Emergent Spacetime from Modular Motives

چکیده
The program of constructing spacetime geometry from string theoretic modular forms is extended to Calabi-Yau varieties of dimensions two, three, and four, as well as higher rank motives. Modular forms on the worldsheet can be constructed from the geometry of spacetime by computing the L-functions associated to omega motives of Calabi-Yau varieties, generated by their holomorphic n−forms via Galois representations. The modular forms that emerge from the Ω−motive and other motives of the intermediate cohomology are related to characters of the underlying rational conformal field theory. The converse problem of constructing space from string theory proceeds in the class of diagonal theories by determining the motives associated to modular forms in the category of pure motives with complex multiplication. The emerging picture indicates that the L-function can be interpreted as a map from the geometric category of motives to the category of conformal field theories on the worldsheet. PACS Numbers and

Dark Energy and Emergent Spacetime
A natural geometric framework of noncommutative spacetime is symplectic geometry rather than Riemannian geometry. The Darboux theorem in symplectic geometry then admits a novel form of the equivalence principle such that the electromagnetism in noncommutative spacetime can be regarded as a theory of gravity. Remarkably the emergent gravity reveals a noble picture about the origin of spacetime, ...
متن کاملEmergent Gravity from Noncommutative Spacetime
We showed before that self-dual electromagnetism in noncommutative (NC) spacetime is equivalent to self-dual Einstein gravity. This result implies a striking picture about gravity: Gravity can emerge from electromagnetism in NC spacetime. Gravity is then a collective phenomenon emerging from photons living in fuzzy spacetime. We elucidate in some detail why electromagnetism in NC spacetime shou...
متن کاملMotives, modularity, and mirror symmetry
We consider certain families of Calabi-Yau orbifolds and their mirror partners constructed from Fermat hypersurfaces in weighted projective spaces. We use Fermat motives to interpret the topological mirror symmetry phenomenon. These Calabi-Yau orbifolds are defined over Q, and we can discuss the modularity of the associated Galois representations. We address the modularity question at the motiv...
متن کاملSe p 20 09 Motives for elliptic modular groups
In order to study the arithmetic structure of elliptic modular groups which are the fundamental groups of compactified modular curves with cuspidal base points, these truncated Malcev Lie algebras and their direct sums are considered as elliptic modular motives. Our main result is a new theory of Hecke operators on these motives which gives a congruence relation to the Galois action, and a moti...
متن کاملConstructing Elements in Shafarevich-tate Groups of Modular Motives
We study Shafarevich-Tate groups of motives attached to modular forms on Γ0(N) of weight bigger than 2. We deduce a criterion for the existence of nontrivial elements of these Shafarevich-Tate groups, and give 16 examples in which a strong form of the Beilinson-Bloch conjecture implies the existence of such elements. We also use modular symbols and observations about Tamagawa numbers to compute...
